The SHF has never recovered from the severe pummeling it received at TarotL Hall, when their Champion, Sir Robert the Rabbit, surrendered his "tower" to the Cartofeminist Gesserit. - <a href="http://jktarot.com/tarotmap.html" target="_blank">Explore the exotic land of the Tarotmaniacs."</a><br> <b>Jess Karlin</b> created a fancy adventure island, and everybody, who remembers the short history of Tarot in Internet well, might have his/her fun - Holly Voley, Assistant Curator of the otherwise unknown Waitely Memorial Museum (what's that, another joke?) played the ball back with: "This is one of the most hilarious and true maps of the world I've seen! You are a cunning and sometimes wise poophead, jk! You are nasty, and crude, and brutal, and oh so right on many things... ...I laughed and cried and emoted and found the light. Thank you again." <br> Well, take a trip to the island and see, what you get.<br> As far trionfi.com is concerned, however, the older heroes of Tarot history, Michael Dummett and "Bunny" Bob O'Neill, are - in contrary to JK's wild suggestions - only peripheral involved in our activities. Nonetheless we laughed too and ... let's see.<br><br> <li><b>Ebay Deal:</b> Kenji, Tarot enthusiast and cards collector in Japan and member of Aeclectic.net was lucky in an auction at ebay and got the desired object, a Conver deck with a prize little about 1000 Dollars. "I think this pack can be dated to circa 1850s. (Mr Depaulis says his opinion is the same as mine) At least it should be older than the original of Lo Scarabeo edition, for the left eye of "LE PENDU" and the mouth of "TEMPERANCE" are not missing. The back design is, according to Mr Depaulis, one which French cardmakers used to call "dos caillou". ("dos" = "back", and "caillou" = "pebble")" Trionfi.com is lucky, too, as we will get some electronic pictures for our Tarot Museum, thanks to friendly Kenji. Harry Houdini reported: "I picked them (the cards) up over the years collecting Houdini and Conjuring books and ephemera. ... I think they came from an old magician's collection. ... Also included in this lot is an interesting envelope the cards were found in. It is from "The Salvatorian Fathers" from Wisconsin. This sect was founded by a German Catholic priest in the mid-1850's. They left Germany because they were persecuted and wanted to practice their faith their own way. They bought almost 4,000 acres in Wisconsin and started their own town, with their own hospital, schools and even a college. This sect seems to have disbanded in the 1950's. Just some information I found while researching these cards."<br> Personal Note: A Societas divini Salvatoris, also called "Salvatorianer", was founded by Joh. Baptist Jordan (* 1848, priest since 1878) in 1881. He was from Freiburg im Breisgau, that is in a direct neighbourhood to Colmar. In the year 1911 there were 7 groups of the sect known in North America (others in Vienna, Hungary, Suisse, Belgia and Italy), it's likely, that the deck wandered with a member of the group to North America. <br>According to Harry Houdini Stuart Kaplan gave the following expertise: "Your partial tarot pack is woodblock printed and hand stencil colored. The card maker is Guillaume Mann from Colmar, in the Alsace region of France. Mann worked in the later half of the 18th century and there are references to decks he published in 1795. Your two of coins refers to 1752 which is possible but possibly Mann took existing woodblocks from an earlier card maker. You will note Major Arcana card number II is titled Junon. In some tarot decks The Popess and The Pope (and the High Priestess and the Hierophant respectively) were renamed Junon and Jupiter respectively, generally believed as a concession to the Catholic Church. Several tarot decks that come to mind with the Junon image similar to the Mann imagery are the French Revolutionary Tarot pack by Carey, Strasbourg, 1791 , illustrated on page 155 of Volume I of The Encyclopedia of Tarot, and in Volume II, Jean Jerger Tarot, Besancon p. 342; J.B. Benois, Strasbourg, p. 345; and Renault, p.351." Kaplan's analysis was confirmed by expert Kenji at Aeclectic: "Eliminated crowns & titles, the initial "HB" on the shield of THE CHARIOT... They gave me the confirmation that these cards were published by Guillaume Mann, after 1790. ... By the way, the woodblock of this deck may have been made not in Colmar, but in another place: The company Blanck & Tchann (later succeeded by G.
